My Time at TAG Alliances: Lessons from a Global Professional Network
When I joined TAG Alliances as Executive Assistant to the CEO, I knew I was stepping into a role that would challenge me to think bigger, act faster, and grow beyond the boundaries of a typical entry-level position. What I didn’t realize at the time was just how much the experience would shape the way I view global collaboration, leadership, and the value of relationships in business.
Supporting Global Strategy
TAG Alliances is a worldwide alliance of independent professional service firms, and my position placed me right at the center of this global network. One of my key responsibilities was coordinating international projects across member firms. From logistics for worldwide conferences to communications with leaders on multiple continents, I learned the importance of precision and cultural awareness. Each interaction reminded me that while business is global, success often comes down to how well you build and maintain trust at the local level.
Driving Operational Excellence
Part of my role was to streamline systems and processes for international events. For example, I built reporting tools and simplified workflows that improved efficiency by nearly 10%. While it may sound small, in a network that spans more than 110 countries and 20,000 professionals, these improvements made a noticeable difference. I realized that operational excellence is not about making things more complicated, it’s about making things easier for others to succeed.
High-Level Communications and Decision Support
Working directly with the CEO and senior leadership gave me exposure to executive-level decision-making that few young professionals get so early in their careers. I prepared briefing materials and executive communications that helped leadership act decisively and stay aligned with the strategic vision of the alliance. This taught me not just how to write with clarity and precision, but how to anticipate the needs of leaders and ensure they had the right information at the right time.
Lessons Learned
Looking back, my time at TAG Alliances reinforced three lessons that I carry with me into every new role:
- Relationships drive business. Whether it’s clients, partners, or colleagues, strong relationships create the foundation for long-term success.
- Details matter. In a fast-paced, global environment, accuracy and timeliness are non-negotiable.
- Leadership is service. Supporting senior executives showed me that great leaders empower those around them, and I strive to apply that lesson in my own leadership style.
Looking Ahead
TAG Alliances gave me an early opportunity to work at the intersection of international business, operations, and strategic communications. It sharpened my professional skills and deepened my appreciation for the power of global collaboration. As I continue to grow in my career, I know the experiences and lessons from TAG Alliances will remain a strong part of my foundation.
